O, I am so happy....

....to have my laptop back! Two weeks without it was long enough. Chad still hasn't been able to recover my old hard drive. But, he did get me a new hard drive ...... and oh I am thrilled to be on MY computer again! And just in case you was wondering.....there is still a glimmer of hope for recovering my old hard drive. Chad gets to take it in to the Computer Forensic Lab at GSU during finals week. So if it can be recovered it will be done there. But I am okay either way, really. My most important stuff is elsewhere, but it would be handy to have all my files.

"la, la, la, la" .....that is me singing and doing a happy dance.

Really people, it doesn't take much to keep me happy.

Speaking of happy people....Here is a picture of Rose (right) with two of her friends, Elisabeth and Autumn. They were playing dress up and having a good ole time a few weeks ago.

Killed my laptop

I haven't been on here much because I dropped and killed my laptop. :( Chad is trying to repair it but it is pretty bad. So we will see....

Anyways, here is a photo of Rose at a new park in the area.

Next day.....back at Stone Mountain

Rose and daddy had a picnic on top of the mountain as well as some bubble blowing time. Rose thought it would be super neat to pack along bubbles to blow on top of the mountain:) (I think I was at home working on a consignment sale or something.)

That evening we all went to the laser/fireworks show. Rose was all excited about the show bc she had listened to a lecture about how the lasers work the day before at the Stone Mountain Homeschool Day.

Baking Cookies (the healthier way)

The girls are working on their Baking Badge for Keepers At Home Club. They have to make cookies, cake, pie, cobbler,yeast bread, and dessert bread to earn the badge. So it will take several meetings to accomplish this.

Also they are learning how to bake as healthy as possible. They use freshly ground wheat, succanant or honey granulars instead of sugars, all organic ingredients, and Real ingredients (real butter NEVER margarine, real vanilla extract never imitation, raw milk, etc). They LOVE to bake. And I feel good about them eating their creations because it is pretty healthy!

For those of you who have asked...Keepers Club usually starts out with the 4 girls sharing any new Bible verses they have learned and sharing what they are reading in the Bible. Then we start our baking project and while it is baking we work on a different project. This week while the cookies were baking we worked on the Watercolors badge.

Here is our Fall schedule:
Session 1 – introduction session and Latch Hooking
Session 2 – Baking session 1 and Water Colors session 1
Session 3 – Baking session 2 and Water Colors session 2
Session 4 – Baking session 3 and Stenciling session 1
Session 5 – Baking session 4 and Stenciling session 2
Session 6 – Baking session 5 and Cake Decorating 1
Session 7 – Baking session 6 and Cake Decorating 2
Session 8 – Cake decorating 3

All club meetings will include time for Bible Memorization, Prayer warrior, and Bible Reading. These three will mostly be done at home and the girls can report their progress at club meetings.

I really like this club as it helps me to be purposeful in teaching these skills to Rose, that otherwise we probably wouldn't get around to doing. And it is so fun for her, having her friends come over and join us!

Becoming A Titus 2 Woman

I read this post over at 'A Wise Woman Builds Her Home' and thought I'd share. Since it was a reminder to me to buy the book "Becoming A Titus 2 Woman" by Martha Peace. I had heard about this book some time ago and was going to read it.....but it totally slipped my mind.

I loved "An Excellent Wife" by Martha Peace and I highly recommend it! I am looking forward to reading this book as well!

The Tender-Hearted Mom

It is not uncommon to see a mother grab her child in anger in the grocery store or in the church. Even mothers who are normally easy going and tender-hearted can be exasperated beyond belief. Of course, they never have an excuse to sin before God and to sin against their child but they do need help. The older women are to lovingly hold them accountable to be kind and tender-hearted instead of mean and and hard-hearted. Another way the older women can help the younger women to love their children is to remind them to be wise like God.

"But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. ( James 3:17-18, emphasis added)

..House rules are often a point of conflict between the children and mothers. They are certainly necessary but it is critical how they are enforced. Sometimes young mothers become like marine drill sergeants at boot camp. As a result, the rules are enforced in a cruel and hard-hearted way through threats, screaming, yelling, and name calling. It may result in an outwardly compliant child who remembers to make their bed and take off their muddy shoes, but it is also likely to produce a child who is likewise cruel and hard in their heart. Gentleness and mercy are more important than external rules.

Help the young mothers to be consistent with enforcing house rules but to do it in love.

If they must err, it should be on the side of mercy since "...mercy triumphs over judgment"
