Box of books

Thanks Grandma Anderson for the box of books we received in the mail!

G-ma A. sent a box of Chad's books from his childhood.

Rose is enjoying them so much.

We are having fun reading them....and there is just something sweet about knowing these are the same books daddy used when he was a little boy.

Rose will only get one book out at a time and won't get the next book out until she has looked at every single page in the current book. cute.

Tray Activities

Here are some of our February tray activities.

Valentine Die-cuts with markers and stickers.
Heart stencil with paper and pencil.
Word World word talker. Insert the card and it says and spells the word.
Meet 'Spikey' he is new to our classroom. He is a little dinosaur that likes to have beads put on his suction cups. Use tweezers to put beads on him and then take them off before putting the tray back on the shelf. I thought in March we could use green beads, etc.

Phonics cards and pen. You put the pen on the dot next to the correct answer and it lights up and tells you if you are correct or not.

We also had a play dough tray with Valentine colors and shape cutters out for most of the month, but I had already put it away when I took these photos.

Rose and Andrew like to do the tray activities. Especially when I am working with the other one, 1 on 1 for writing or phonics.

Valentine

Rose decided to make some Valentines out of stenciled hearts.

Sick

Rose was sick for a few days. She spent a lot of time sleeping and resting. To try and brighten up her time, I decided to give her a little gift from my little gift box.

These are just little gifts from the Dollar Tree or the Dollar spot at Target that I keep on hand if I think she needs an extra reward or something.
I keep them stored in this little box on top of the book shelf.

I found Bible characters from Focus on the Family at the Dollar Tree.

I gave her the David and Goliath.

this perked up her spirits.

For some other time I also have Noah, Moses, and Jesus.She is better now...thank goodness. Just has some lingering congestion.

(Obviously I had my camera set on the wrong setting...sorry)

Valentine's party '09

The preparations......

Rose's Valentines. We punched them out. She signed her name then put the pixie stix through the heart, then I taped the arrow tip on for her. We made 45 cards.
This is a bag I got on clearance after Valentine's Day last year. It made a good bag to carry all her cards in.
She made a container to receive her Valentine cards in. She had been wanting to buy these roses from the Dollar Tree and was thrilled when I said yes on our last visit. She wrapped a cracker box in gift wrap paper I recently bought at IKEA (on clearance of course....25 cents a roll) Then she cut out a purple and a red heart. She used my scrapbooking stickers for her name. Then I put hot glue on the flowers for her and handed them to her to place on the box. I thought she did a fabulous job on her box! We put it on a charger plate and she poured red sand around the box.
The Party.......

The party was for our DASCH homeschool group. I think there was about 50 children in attendance. We had fellowship food, cookie making, paper crafts, rosebud craft, and then play time. Rose loved being with all of her wonderful friends.

Yippee! Rose won the Valentine container contest! She received a first place ribbon!

In the school room

Here are some of our Valentine decorations. Rose and I made heart garland out of chenille sticks. (and put up window clings)
Here you can see some heart paper weaving Rose did, our hanging paper heart, and a glimpse of the heart calendar.

The kids have been LOVING the new computer center I set up!
And the reason they have a computer center is b/c (drum roll please) I now have a new laptop (YIPPEE!), so I turned my old one into a great place to play educational games.
I heart my new computer. Thanks sweetie for finding us such a good deal.

We heart Stone Mountain

Sunday afternoon at Stone Mountain.

Yes they currently have an area with snow (yes it was 66 degrees outside)
It costs extra to do the "snow mountain" so we just enjoyed the rest of the park.

You just can't go wrong by spending time here. It was a very nice family day.
