We are so blessed. I get to teach a sweet little girl -- sewing. It is so fun! She comes over on Monday afternoons and we sew.
Here she is sewing on the machine....
Here are her and Rose's completed outfits. Ansley made a skirt, shirt, and bag for her bear and Rose made a night gown for her doll.
And here they are with their mustaches they taped on. Aren't they so fun!Thank you Ansley for making sewing days so much FUN!!! We love it!

Beginning in Jerusalem

(below, I am sharing a post from the d'Escoto's blog. I personally know people who have a heart for the lost at their work or other places (which is great!) but they have lost the hearts of their own children (which is so sad!) Remember 1 Timothy 3:12 )

Begin in Jerusalem

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ~ Luke 24:47

The late great preacher C.H. Spurgeon nailed an extremely important point over a 125 years ago when commenting on above passage:

"Beginning at Jerusalem, must surely mean begin at home. You know the old proverb, 'The cobbler's (shoemaker's) wife goes barefoot'...I knew a man who used to go out with preachers every night in the week, and try to preach himself, poor soul that he was; but his children were so neglected that they were the most wicked children in the street, and they grew up in all manner of vice. The father was prancing about and looking after other people, and did not care for his own family. Now, if you are going to serve Christ to the very ends of the earth, take care that you begin at home...Dear parents, need I urge you to look to your own children?" ~ Spurgeon... Not well

I am not feeling 100% today. I have a lot to do today but it just isn't getting done.
I also have several blog posts swimming in my head, but those aren't going to get done either. Not today anyways. So instead, I am going to direct you to Raising Olives blog. I like this POST.

I really enjoy her blog.

I just want to add even though I am feeling sick I am still feeling overwhelming blessed. I am so thankful for God's grace and for the blessing of my family. I am so blessed. Thank you Lord for your mercy and bounty.

ahhh......leaf rubbings

Yes even though it is most definitely still summer and summer weather.....the leaves have actually started changing and falling. This brought much delight to Rose as she is looking forward to raking them and jumping in them.
So in honor of the new fallen leaves, we spent our nature study time last week searching for a few 'perfect' specimens in our backyard. Then she did leaf rubbings to stick in her nature journal. She loved this activity and it was a nice nature activity to do during our first week of the new school year.

Articles to share

Okay...I get this magazine...but there were a few articles I really liked in here, so I purchased the digital version as well, so I could share with YOU!
(with the digital version I am allowed to share it on my blog!!)

The first thing I wanted to share is on page 32-37. Just click on the magazine below and go.
Samantha, I think you will like this. You will see that it is not just me and you that feel this way.
Candi, I think you would enjoy this article as well.

Yes I did put this on here specifically for Samantha and Candi, but also for anyone else that wants to read it is welcome to.

Candi in addition to pgs 32-37, go to page 138 and page 142...those two articles are about speech and language. I was going to give you my magazine...when I saw these articles, but I guess I am greedy and wanted to keep it. (shame on me) but that is why I got this digital version to share.

It is official....I am now grinding my own wheat!

Yep, that's right, I mill my own wheat. After hearing all the chatter about 'the bread you buy at the store is just junk food' ....and even if you make your own bread but use flour or bread flour etc....still junk food........
I decide to look into it myself. If you want more info on the subject Bread Beckers might be a good place to start. I recommend their FREE audio cd.

Anyways, seems lots of my friends were grinding their own wheat and enjoying the health benefits of it. So after talking it over with Chad and coming to terms the time commitment it would take to grind my own wheat and make my own, bread, muffins, pizza dough, etc....we decided to do it.
This is what I purchased to get started.....
The large buckets are wheat....Here is my mill that grinds the wheat...
And the bread machine that is strong enough to mix milled wheat...
So far I used the bread machine to mix and knead and do the 1st rise, but then take the dough out and bake it in the oven.

I needed to store all the extra ingredients, so I found these jars at the Container Store and they do the job nicely.
I made labels using card stock, markers and packaging tape.
Here is how my counter now looks.
The yeast I keep stored in fridge (and after this photo was taken I found out that the lecithin would last longer if stored in the fridge, so it is now in there too)
I have only had it a few days and have already made bread, cookies and pizza dough. And everything so far has been yummy! I will post later about my bread baking experience.
